Smiling as weapon, Love as Defense
Since the attacks on Paris this past weekend, there is a greater responsibility to love.
We need to take this responsibility seriously. We need to pick it up with the valor it deserves.
Love takes courage. Love takes effort. Love is us giving ourselves to others, not blowing them up, not shooting them. If "they" are known for their acts of savagory, we need to be known for our acts of kindness and consideration. I heard a Frenchman say on a television interview: "our weapon is our smiles." Let us pick up our weapons of smiles, arm ourselves with kindness, and let love be our symbol of hope. Pick up your weapons and go...

What does absence do to you?
"Absence is to love as wind is to fire; It extinguishes the small and kindles the great."

We are just farmers
He who sows courtesy reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.
Saint Basil (330-379)
What is the yield of your actions? Perhaps we can tell what we do by what we get.

Time, Energy, and Cost
Love is extravagant in the time it is willing to give, in the strength it is willing to spend, and in the price it is willing to pay.

Are you working at love?
"Love works, but you have to work at it.
Loving others creates all sorts of tension, which is why we need to work at love."

What do you think?
In reading an ebook, you can't cite page numbers, but you can give quotes:
"love is expressed with actions and not with reactions"
and
"love is not a feeling, it's a choice, a commitment."
Emerson Eggerichs
Love & Respect
I say:
Love is expressed with both your actions and your reactions.
And, love is a choice you make that comes with lots of feelings!
It's a commitment you give that gives you an array of emotions.
It's a ride, enjoy the ups and the downs. Know there are both.

A great Valentine excerpt from a widow
It's taken me years to fully accept, transform and become the very essence of the word LOVE in this world. That BIG PICTURE, all consuming, 'it's just who I am' kind of love that stares down a day like Valentine's Day and challenges us to define what LOVE IS for ourselves.
Is it romantic, is it charity, is it familial, is it spiritual? I think it is all of these, all of the time.
Mostly spiritual. Because love is a verb, not a noun. It transcends, it transforms, it moves, it's infinite and it goes where ever you go....and it grows. It was in you when you were born and it will continue after you die. Try to contain it if you will, but I think you'll discover, it's meant to be given away.

Fierce and Quick
"Love fiercely.
Forgive quickly."
